Katie and Adrian came to me about 8 weeks before their wedding day – they both lived in London and were getting married at Hillbark on the Wirral. They had booked certain aspects but still needed some suppliers sorting and help pulling it all together with the venue. It was such a pleasure to work on this wedding and Katie, Adrian and their family and friends are so so lovely. It was great to work alongside the wonderful photographer Emma Hillier and the videographers from K&K Weddings.
The day of the wedding was unfortunately a cloudy day with rain on and off throughout the whole morning and afternoon, however this didn’t dampen the spirits of any of the guests and the wedding party. I was there early to set everything up, to meet all the suppliers and make sure the venue was ready. Katie had chosen a 3 tier white iced cake with black ribbon and small diamantes but she had seen a picture of a cake with origami birds on which she loved and so I spent some time to attach the birds to the cake – it turned out really well – maybe I should add cake decorating to my resume!!!
The ceremony was in the Great Hall followed by the wedding breakfast also in the Great Hall so a swift turn around was needed.
In the venue there was a black curtain in the middle of traditional wood as the hotel was undergoing renovations – Katie didn’t like this and so I solved the problem by creating a ‘Step and Repeat’ with a white backcloth, red carpet and photographer poles for guests to pose in front of on the way into the wedding breakfast.
Katie and Adrian both work in the media industry and so this fit perfect with them! I also booked the fabulous Angela Adlard to provide vases of flowers for the centrepieces on the table. The decor was such a fun theme and great to carry out. Katie told me straight away she wasn’t having a bouquet but wanted really simple white daisies in vases on the tables. They were having a ‘black and white’ movie theme so this matched perfectly. We ordered in special black tablecloths and white tablecloths as the venue only had ivory and Katie tied in the theme with large ‘clapperboards’ displaying the table names and numbers (which were all their favourite movies!).
To tie in with the black and white movie theme, guests were all given favours of black and white striped popcorn bags with a selection of retro sweets – again all put together by me. To match the cake, black and white origami birds were the place settings for guests. I just love how the room turned out.
For the evening, guests made their way to the marquee where they were greeted by a magician which definitely kept all guests entertained, a popcorn machine and photo booth. They kept the reveal curtain up until cutting the cake and then it was revealed for Marc Kenny to play until the early hours.
This was such an amazing wedding to work on and the Partial Wedding Planning package was perfect for them.
Congratulations again to the newlyweds – Katie and Adrian! x
